Why give out a business card when you meet an interesting person when you can give them a treasure trove of Art featuring yourself and your friends' artworks instead?!
That is my goal with collaborative zines like this, just like those Sampler Albums of ye olden days from record labels, or those Comic Anthologies where the likes of Evan Dorkin, GWAR, and many others showed up. I want to start doing Art Piece Anthologies!
You can do this too! Very simple!
All you need to do is talk to your Artist friends and ask them to submit a piece for a zine. Get 6 Artists to submit a single piece, then you make the Front and Back Covers however you would like so all 8 pages are filled.
To keep things fair so everyone has a chance to Profit from this in their own way, you setup the zine in a printable format and send the file to everyone who participated and they can print it at home or at Staples/Kinkos/Whatever the hell prints stuff in your town and make as many copies as they want. So the person who puts it together doesn't have to deal with a shit ton of Overhead Costs, everyone is able to work at their own pace and financial situation.
So yes its a bit more legwork, but then you're able to print it perpetually! And each Artist can choose to give it out for Free or Sell it for a price they see fit. Freedom. True Artistic Freedom!
