Jared Baker Collection

I had first discovered this artist while clicking through DungeonCritter's page on Instagram after seeing him tag something called Xtreme Corp. Clickity Clackity a few times more and I ended up on Wolf.Baker. I saw some Horserer stuff and then noticed he had actual full fledged comics out on the Xtreme Corp website, and coming from xerox zine mentality I was pretty impressed. He had an underground feel to his art mixed with this professional air. When I finally nabbed these comics I was really hit with how nice everything was.

I stalked, I lurked, I read Horserer on webtoon and then finally grabbed everything I had money for.

If you haven't checked out the short Interview I did with him, you can read it HERE!!!!

Contents Of The Package

HORSERER

I feel like he took Street Trash and made this Psychedelic Punk Metal Medieval Comic. I think I will leave the description at that as to not give spoilers. Life is cheap, death is brutal, goofy humour, and just cool character concepts. The main character's story takes a slow burn buildup while chaos pretty much ensues around him, which took me a minute to get used to, but in the end I appreciated the different approach.

Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the HotDog, Burger, and EGG t-shirts on the one fucking dude? Yes. I think we can. The Egg Shirt was actually the reason I ever contacted him in the first place, I don't know why I thought it was so funny, but it still is. Thank you Egg Shirt.

Shirt Currently Not Available At Hot Topic

I require further information on SKULL BUTT please and thank you

You can see leaps from each issue showing his art improvement. I noticed from Issue 3 the visuals became far more interesting, lots of more dynamic poses and angles going on. The colouring style also started to change on certain characters around Issue 3. Issue 4 although some weird issues with person size, weird hand/arm lengths, and some awkward foreshortening. Those things are easily glossed over for how much the intensity of each panel rises.

One of the many sets of panels that show the vast improvement

BIG BOY

Horserer was already established and had 4 Issues out at this point so I didn't get to catch it from the start, but Big Boy I did. He was posting it in pieces on his Instagram Story. I only remembered Big Boy from the Austin Powers film, I never ate at one, so this ended up amplifying the weirdness a bit. It starts off pretty funny, you go ha ha and feel safe, and then the resistance is futile and you fear the inevitable.

I remember finishing reading it on his story and became really inspired and had this tune in my head, and attempted to record a song and of course told him. Then I hated how it came out, gave up, started writing a Horserer song (like a genius did not tell him) which remains half recorded but at least I like the riffs.

RADIOACTIVE REJECTS
& MITTEN MYSTERIES

Radioactive Rejects he had just posted up on his Instagram and I was immediately interested since this was the first time I've seen him do anything close to a Zine. Both issues are only a few pages long, and it is like a little guide to creatures/people you would encounter while out in Space. Narrated by some Skele-Robo-Space-Cat in a leather jacket. My favourite being Malevolent Murder Mutant and Cratear.

Where Mitten Mysteries is a little different but a guide all the same, to Crytpids in Michigan. I had read those old Weird PA and Weird NJ books so this was a total treat! He threw this one in for free, I didn't even know it existed. The most tragic story were the Melonhead Twins, which honestly I wouldn't be surprised about if it was real. So if you're into urban legends you will enjoy this!

BONEHEAD MAGAZINE

Xtreme Corp's first Comics Anthology featuring the main three fellas Dungeoncritter, Wolf Baker, and Ghostface Chillah. There is a guest artist by the name of Vomit Czar who is absolutely sick at drawing up the undead. The contrast between each artist is exactly what I would want from an Anthology, tons of personality from each artist. The art styles as well as the content shine. Some are completely silent pieces full of tension whether it's Ninjas or a Dungeon Crawl. And maybe you just think Five Finger Death Punch sucks sweaty balls? There is something in there for you too! The Xtreme Corp Mascot even has his own set of pages.

DungeonCritter

GhostfaceChillah

Wolf Baker

Vomit Czar

Wolf Baker

The book is just the right length to give you a taste of each artist's abilities, although it seems Ghostface and Wolf dominate the Xtreme Corp storefront right now, hopefully more from the other artists start leaking into there as well.

STICKERS

He also threw in a few stickers, real good quality awesome designs such as a Kappa , a Jack O Lantern, and a STONED TO THE BONE one. I am a complete dumbass who never wants to use the stickers they get and instead scotch tapes them (only on the back!!!!) to the wall or a mirror so it can be moved or put away. I have always lamented about cool stickers I had during school on my binders that would get rubbed off or the binder would break in half because I'm just THAT Hardcore. So these will also be getting special treatment.

IN CONCLUSION...

Between each publication presented here you get a different helping of madness between each cover. If you want a nice change of pace from boring overstretched superhero garbage, re-reading old classics, or just want to find some new artists I recommend this fella right here. Accessible, Nice, Pleasant at dinner parties and weddi-MEAN GREEN KILLIN MACHINE WITH A FUCKIN PEN REAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
